Suffering and the Gospel: Despair to Hope

Does continued pain and evil in our world show that God has failed? Why does God allow those who trust in him to suffer? Is there any meaning to it?
Gospel for the Gong are organising a bible convention next month. Our own pastor, Colin, will be one of the speakers at this event.
