What Have We Done?

What Have We Done?

The following songs explores the solemn event of Good Friday, and helps us realise Jesus went to the cross because of our sin.
As John Stott said "Before we can begin to see the cross as something done for us, we have to see it as something done by us."

The lyrics of the song below by Northern Conspiracy are confronting and blunt - but true. As How Deep The Fathers Love For Us says:
"It was my sin that held him there"

"What Have We Done" - The Northern Conspiracy
Oh my soul, oh my Jesus
Judas sold you for thirty, I'd have done it for less
Oh my soul, oh my Savior
Peter denied you three times, I have denied you more

As the nails went in, I was standing right there

Why did Christ have to go all the way to death?

Why did Christ have to go all the way to death?

Q & A 39
Q. Is it significant
that he was "crucified"
instead of dying some other way?

A. Yes.
This death convinces me
that he shouldered the curse
which lay on me,
since death by crucifixion was accursed by God.

Q & A 40
Q. Why did Christ have to go all the way to death?

A. Because God's justice and truth demand it:
only the death of God's Son could pay for our sin.

Easter 2010 at WCRC

"Before we can begin to see the cross as something done for us, we have to see it as something done by us." - John Stott.

Easter is a big time for Christians. It's the day we celebrate and remember God's saving work in sending Jesus to die for our sins, and Jesus' victorious rise from the grave to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

In the book 'Death By Love', the authors list some of what Jesus achieved through his death and resurrection. He is our Christus Victor, Redemption, New Covenant Sacrifice, Gift Righteousness, Justification, Propitiation, Expiation, Ransom, Christus Exemplar, Reconciliation and Revelation.

What's So Good About Friday?

What's So Good About Friday?

Fridays. They’re good. Each week we all look forward to them - they’re a cause for celebration! The weekend is near! A sunny Friday is always good. A lazy Friday is always good. A Friday with an awesome weekend is always good. Friday heralds the arrival of a temporary break from our weekly struggles. It’s always good.

But imagine a Friday where the King, the King of Kings infact, made an incredible sacrifice so we could have an incredible gift. That would be a very good Friday - and that really did happen! Read more »
