Election Values Checklist

Election Values Checklist

Next weekend is the 2010 federal election, and many people are yet to make up their minds, and many more are confused about what the major political parties.
The Australian Christian Values Institute have released the 'Australian Christian Values Checklist' for the 2010 election. This document shows where the major (and minor) political parties stand on issues important to Christian voters, such as abortion, marriage, freedom of religion, and more.

This is a very helpful document which helps in working out what you are really voting for. Read more »

Home Group Update: HG8's journey through Romans

Home Group Update: HG8's journey through Romans

Since March, HG8 (Young Adults' Bible Study) have been slowly wading through the book of Romans, using John Stott's commentary as a guide. This study has definitely had it's challenges (such as John Stott's very large vocabulary for a start!), yet immensely rewarding as we delve deeply into the words of Paul's letter. And we're only three chapters in! Below is a brief summary of some of the things we have learnt in the past months so you all can see what we've been up to. We would love to hear what other Home Groups and Bible Studies are doing together also! (If you'd like to write up what you've been up to in yours - let me know. Read more »

A Scarey Mind Without God

Partying Toward Extinction - Peter Singer and Humanity
June 24, 2010 - by Chuck Colson, http://www.breakpoint.org/bpcommentaries/entry/13/14744

Ethicist Peter Singer* has done it again. The Princeton professor, you may remember, is best known for creating controversy by treating such practices as infanticide, euthanasia and bestiality as morally neutral. Now he has an op-ed in the online New York Times titled "Should This Be the Last Generation?"

This time, Singer is considering the idea of not just getting rid of the elderly or the disabled, but total human extinction. Read more »

'Genesis: The Missing Link' this Sunday

'Genesis: The Missing Link' this Sunday

The 'GENESIS: The Missing Link' presentation is this Sunday night!, starting at 6pm.
Remember to come along, and invite anyone you think may be interested in hearing about these issues. Here's some brief info about the presenter, Dr David Catchpoole, from www.creation.com:

David was once an ardent atheistic evolutionist, before being challenged to look critically at the problems of evolution, and the scientific evidence for creation and the Bible.

He now works full-time for Creation Ministries International (CMI) in Brisbane, Australia and is a popular speaker having lectured all over Australia and across the world. He has spoken widely on the issues of creation, in particular their importance to evangelism.

Soccer Returns

Well it has been a very long time between games. Two representative weekends and bad weather has resulted in our teams playing no games over the past 4 weeks.

This weekend shall see the return of both of our teams to the soccer fields to undertake Round 11. For our premier division side, this weekend will be their final game before the 2010 draw goes back to the beginning, giving all teams a chance to play each other for a 2nd time this season.

This weekend, Saturday 19th June, our B team will be taking on the Corrimal Catholics, whilst our A team will be taking on Wollongong Baptist A's.

Both games will be played at Thomas Dalton Park (across the road from our church).

Division 1 will kick off at 1pm and Premier Division will kick off at 3pm. Read more »
