five solas

Foundational to the Reformation were what was called the Five Solas, or the Five Alones, which served to explain the basis of protestant belief.

That according to the authority of the Bible, sinners are only saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone all to the glory of God alone.

We believe that the Bible, the Word of God, is the only authority for Christian life and faith.  In it God reveals himself as the eternal

Father, Son and Holy Spirit and as we read the Scriptures we get to know God.

We place a strong emphasis on teaching, preaching and studying the Bible as it is the most important book for our world.

The Bible teaches us the way of salvation through faith in Christ Jesus, and then how to live that new life out of thankfulness to God.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and He is our only mediator and saviour.  He alone bridges the gap between mankind and God. He alone saves believers from our sins through his substitutionary death of the cross and his life giving resurrection from the grave.

We believe the work of the Holy Spirit is focused on Christ, and it is the Spirit who gives us faith to believe in Christ, draws our attention to Him, helps us understand His Word, makes us more like Jesus and enables us to witness for Him.

We believe a person is only saved from their sins by faith Jesus Christ.  We are not saved by our good works, our attempts to be religious, or our moralistic lifestyle. No, we believe every person is corrupted by sin and will only find salvation from sin and acceptance by God through repentance and faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

This is the foundation of the Christian who believes, from the first day until the end.
A Christian lives by Faith in Jesus Christ each and every day.

We believe that salvation in Jesus Christ is not earned or merited by us but is a free gift of God’s grace to undeserving sinners.

This grace is to be celebrated and enjoyed by those who believe as it shapes their motivation and actions.

Grace reminds us that God has done it all for us and so we do not have to impress God but do His good works in response to His grace.

We believe that the believer is saved by God’s grace through faith in Christ alone;
for the praise, worship, honour and glory of God alone through all phases and stages of life.

This focus on God’s glory, as Creator and Redeemer, is meant to work out in a life of worship to God. Every area of life is embraced as an area of service to God and an expression of love for him.
